From rig to engine-ready character: a short Meshy pipeline

Jul 3, 2026 · 6 min read

Generate, texture, rig, pick motions, remesh—then drop into Unity, Unreal, or Godot without thrash.

Order of operations

Lock silhouette → texture → remesh to budget → rig → assign motions. Rerigging after a remesh wastes days.

Poly budgets by platform

Mobile vs console LODs differ. Low poly mode exists so you set countable tris before animating.

Scale and pivot

Use resize/pivot tools so the character’s feet sit on origin before import. Engine scale drama is optional.

Smoke test one scene

Import a single greybox corridor. If animation looks wrong there, it will look wrong everywhere.
